A sound piece conceived as a movie without images. It depicts a claustrophobic, dystopian reality, perceived through the very narrow lens of one person's perspective.
Its core material are recordings of George Orwell's 1984 read backwards in several languages, recordings of soundscapes of my neighborhood done during the first Covid 19 lock-down, and of the looting that took place in Brussels after the Black Lives Matter protests.
Part of this material has been recorded binauraly, therefore the use of headphones enhances the listening experience.
All of the recordings used are my own.
The Children’s Crusade is an anti-war sound piece. It is made up from the voices of over 30 people reading Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse 5. It premiered on COM(E)PULSIVE’s PULSE YouTube channel in April 2022.
